Letter to the Bradford Times March 17 2011
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new group, which has formed recently in Bradford West Gwillimbury. The BWG Citizens Advocate Group meets once a month (every second Thurs.) to discuss many important municipal matters facing our community. The meetings provide a forum for citizens to enumerate and examine the many projects upon which the Town has embarked. The setting is completely informal, and the group works by consensus.
Today’s busy schedules do not always allow people the time to follow Town issues by way of Council, public meetings and local newspaper coverage. In many instances, the subject matter is very complicated, and explanations and discussions are required, to understand the topics. The immediate concerns the group has reviewed and continues to review are: the Dissette/8th Line widening, Hwy. 400-5th Line Interchange, the need to lobby for the 400-404 Link, the Sign By-law, Downtown Revitalization, and the Town’s expenditures.
Like many of the Town’s residents and businesses, our group is truly interested in the growth and well-being of the municipality. We want to be able to understand the direction of that growth, voice any concerns, and applaud the victories. We want to be involved and informed, and do credit to our democratic process. If you have any questions or wish to attend a meeting, you would be most welcome; please call 905-775-4011
