Simcoe County Warden Cal Patterson presented a cheque in the amount of $6,000,163 to Jon Babulic, Chair RVH Board of Directors and Janice Skot, President and CEO of Royal Victoria Hospital, Friday.
The funds will be used to support the ongoing construction of Royal Victoria Hospital’s Phase 1 Expansion Project, which will double the size of the hospital and includes the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. The expansion will create capacity for an additional 165 inpatient beds and provide greater access to care for the residents of Simcoe County.
“Members of the County of Simcoe Council are committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of its residents,” said Warden Cal Patterson. “This is just one, of many significant investments in regional hospitals through the Simcoe County Hospital Alliance that County Council have made, ensuring residents have access to high-quality health care, here at home.”
“Royal Victoria Hospital is truly fortunate to have the support of the County of Simcoe as we continue with this ambitious redevelopment,” said Janice Skot, President and CEO of Royal Victoria Hospital. “The committed support and great vision of County Council will ensure we can continue to provide exceptional care to all the residents of the communities we serve.”
In 2007, County Council committed $30 million in funding to the Simcoe County Hospital Alliance (SCHA) over a 10-year period to provide support for hospital capital projects. This SCHA is comprised of all the hospitals in the area, which provide care for county residents.
