ORILLIA – A staff Christmas skit that proved no laughing matter for Orillia’s newly-elected mayor is the subject of a soon-to-be-released report.
Angelo Orsi said he and others in attendance at a Nov. 27 municipal Christmas party did not find anything funny in a skit performed by unnamed city staff.

“I found the entertainment to be inappropriate,” said Orsi, who was still four days away from becoming mayor when the party was held.
He attended as a guest, as did members of his incoming council.
Orsi has ordered a review of the conduct at the party, and said a statement regarding that review would likely be issued later in the week.
“We looked into the matter,” he said, adding that the review was about having “checks and balances.”
Orsi declined to elaborate on the nature of the sketch or the people involved, saying only that the presentation was, in his estimation, less than chuckle worthy.
“Some people found things funny, and some people didn’t,” he added. “I didn’t find it appropriate. It was my own personal opinion.”
Orsi said it was unlikely the matter would be raised at the council table.
“It is not really an issue that needs to be brought to council,” he added. “It is my own review of existing things.”
