IN CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP: FERGUSON, SAVAGE
By SHARON WEATHERALL Collingwood Enterprise Bulletin October 27 2010
In Clearview, Ken Ferguson’s long-term experience in municipal politics was what the voters wanted. The returning mayor got 3,758 votes, beating out Christopher Vanderkruys’ 1,741.
Ferguson says a priority for Clearview Township Council this year includes working on the government road plan and finishing the EA and creating a partnership with neighbours.
“This will reflect what happens in the next four years,” said Ferguson, who says building an industrial park in Stayner is key as well.
“We are working towards creating new jobs and the new businesses that come to town will need servicing,” he said.
“Something we have to do is carry through on our commitments — we want to see growth, development and a stable government more than anything this time and I can do that. I think we have made a difference and expect the next few years there will be some huge changes in Simcoe County so we have to work with our neighbours.”
Alicia Savage returns to the position of deputy-mayor for her second term with a priority to continue working on the Wasaga Beach service agreement.
“We have a strong team coming back and two new faces that will provide great prospective,” said Savage.
“There is lots of work to do and I am very happy to be back at the table especially at county where Clearview has an important role with waste management — I am so glad that we will have two experienced people there to deal with that.”
Joining Ferguson and Savage on Clearview Council in the coming term will be Doug Measures in Ward 1 with 417 votes; Orville Brown in Ward 2 with 285 votes; Brent Preston in Ward 3 with 302 votes; Thom Patterson in Ward 4 with 586 votes; Robert Walker in Ward 5 with 566 votes; and Deborah Bronee in Ward 6 with 454 votes. Ward 7 councillors Shawn Davidson was acclaimed.
