If the municipal election were held today, Jack Jordan would be mayor and Mary Small Brett his deputy mayor in Adjala-Tosorontio, while Sandie Macdonald would get a free ride as deputy mayor in Essa.

Ward 2 in Adjala-Tos would be vacant, with acclamations in Ward 3, 4 and 5. Only Ward 1 has any semblance of a race to date with three candidates vying for the one seat.
In Essa, four candidates are registered for Ward 1 Angus, the latest David Barnes. The others are Archie Duckworth, John Butcher, and Keith White.
Ward 2 Thornton has two candidates – Rick Newlove, and Robert Klikorka, while incumbent Ron Henderson is alone in the Baxter Ward 3.
Still no change either in the race for mayor as incumbent David Guergis faces a challenge from deputy mayor Terry Dowdall.
Adjala-Tosorontio mayor Tom Walsh has not yet indicated whether he will seek reelection, though his deputy Doug Little has stated he will not run for deputy mayor. But that only fuelled speculation that he will run for mayor should Mr. Walsh step down. Mr. Little, as a federal government employee at Base Borden, needs permission first before he can run for mayor.
Former Everett councillor and past mayoralty candidate Leo Losereit, continues to be non-commital about his intentions for the Oct. 25th municipal elections.
Those interested in running for a four year term, have until 2 pm Sept. 10, 2010 to register. Nominations are closed after that date.
