Ward 3 councillor Barb Huson announced in an email message this morning that she will not seek a third term this October.
Ms. Huson is the second incumbent – Ward 2’s Dennis Egan the other – not running for reelection to suggest conflict around the council table as the reason for dropping out.

Ms Huson and Mr. Egan resigned from their committees in March 2008 in protest following that year’s budget deliberations. They’ve since found themselves isolated on council mostly on the opposite side of most votes.
“For me personally, this past term of Council has been a tremendous disappointment and source of frustration,” wrote Ms. Huson. “I trust that those of you who have attended meetings, or followed Council closely this term, will understand the above comments and why I have chosen not to run again. I am sure that the future will hold many opportunities for me to contribute in other meaningful ways.”
