Saturday September 19: Tree talk and seedling giveaway in Utopia

On Saturday, September 19 (rain date September 26) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Utopia Hall, AWARE Essa, and Friends of the Utopia Mill and Park invite you to Utopia Hall for an outdoor presentation on Trees in Essa Township.
Wildlife habitat, green infrastructure, climate change mitigation—these are just a few of the critical services trees provide. Come and find out how each of us can help increase the tree canopy in Essa Township.
Guest speakers will share expertise on choosing a tree, planting and maintaining trees and current threats to forests in our area. A Question and Answer session will follow to address your tree concerns. Take home a tree seedling at no cost, along with all the information you will need to plant and care for it.
It has been said that “The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
Trees are our legacy and a lifeline to future generations. It’s time to start planting. Bring a lawn chair to this outdoor event. All recommended health precautions will be followed. Sorry, no washrooms will be available.

Friends of the Utopia Mill and Park are stewards of the Utopia Conservation Area, having protected and, together with the NVCA and Essa Township, preserved this naturalized greenspace and cultural heritage site for today’s and future generations.
