Rent’s due: Beachfront tenants owe $250,000 to Wasaga Beach

Wasaga Beach’s beachfront commercial tenants owe the municipality more than $254,000 in unpaid rent and utility charges.

That includes more than $150,000 owed by Enzo Grossi, the leasee of Bananas Beach Club, according to documents obtained by Simcoe.com.

The town’s chief administrative officer, George Vadeboncouer, said the municipality’s lawyer is in discussions with Grossi.

“They’ve had a conversation about the arrears, and we’re trying to negotiate a settlement,” he said.

Vadeboncoeur, acknowledging Grossi cleared out his equipment early in the summer and apparently did not operate, said the cheques provided by the bar owner bounced: “He pulled out and still had his lease, and the amounts continued to accumulate.”
