Adjala-Tosorontio council’s first assignment for the township’s new integrity commissioner is to conduct inquiries into the investigations that took place during the previous term of council regarding code-of-conduct and harassment complaints levied against Mayor Floyd Pinto and Deputy Mayor Bob Meadows.
Council voted 5-2 in favour of proceeding with the inquiries at a meeting July 10.
“We want both investigations reviewed in order to see if they were done properly and what exactly we were accused of, and whether those accusations even hold up,” said Pinto.
Integrity commissioner Guy Giorno will be given “free access” to all materials, including “books, accounts, financial records, electronic data processing records, reports, files and all other papers, things or property.”
This includes a witness statement from former deputy mayor Doug Little, who brought forward the motion for the first investigation in April 2017 and produced a list of 20 alleged infractions.
