Information from FSF website:
We oppose the site proposed and selected by Simcoe County for construction of an Materials Managememt Facility and Organics Processing Facility. The selected site is located in the agriculturally zoned 207 acre Freele Forest Tract. This tract is recognized as Site C136, located at 2976 Horseshoe Valley Rd W. by the County’s consultant.

From John Laforet, Broadview Strategy Group:
“Since joining the Friends of Simcoe Forests fight, one of the most extraordinary pieces of information we’ve had a chance to review is the County’s 20-year forestry plan. It outlines a strategy for sustainable management and preservation of the county’s forest tracts, for recreation and as working forests.

Amazingly, the roots of the County’s forestry legacy is a 1909 report highlighted the foundation of the County’s forests as replanting ‘wastelands’. In 2016, the Friends of Simcoe Forests is fighting a return of forests to wastelands of a different nature.

We are in the midst of rolling out an effort that if successful would see County Council and other municipalities within Simcoe County recommit to their vision for the forests and recognize the incompatibility of this plan and look forward to sharing an update on this at the FSF Corn Roast on August 28, 2016.”

Bring your family, friends, co-workers on out and we’ll see you on Sunday.

Thank you for your support.
