Revised plan meets township’s requirements

ADJALA-TOSORONTIO – A public meeting held Thursday to address Nelson Aggregates’ proposal to build a large gravel pit south of Everett left many residents unsatisfied.

One of the attendees, Adjala resident Marvin Breen, walked away with more questions than answers. He remains concerned the pit will impact the groundwater, lower property values and cause safety issues on the roads from the truck traffic.

“This is not going to benefit Adjala-Tos whatsoever,” he said.

The meeting was held to allow residents to comment on the company’s revised plan to create a large, below water table gravel pit at a property northwest of County Road 13 and 5th Sideroad.

In addition to needing zoning and official plan approvals from the township, the company is also seeking an aggregate licence from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
