Council approved two new subdivisions with a combined total of more than 900 homes at the south end of town at a meeting March 18.

The two new subdivisions, though being constructed by separate developers, will be built close together, just south of Line 6, one on the west side of Simcoe Road and the other on the east.

Ward 7 Councillor Peter Dykie called this the next rollout of Bradford, as these will be the latest large subdivision construction projects in town.

The development on the east side of Simcoe is a Bradford East Developments Inc. project.

The 48-hectare parcel of land will feature 414 detached, semi-detached and street townhouse homes. There will also be space for other uses, such as a future residential block, a park, five open space areas, two woodlot/valley areas, space for an elementary school and more. The subdivision will also feature a walking paths network.

The subdivision to the west of Simcoe is being constructed by Bradford Capital Holdings Inc., 2062598 Ontario Inc., and Tiber Properties Inc.

The 35-hectare development will consist of 504 detached, semi-detached and townhouse homes. There will also be space for a shopping plaza, two future development areas, a park, and a walking path network, plus more.

Acting town manager Geoff McKnight said the construction timing is dependent on the market, but said the subdivisions could be built within three to four years.
