TINY TOWNSHIP – It’s time to remember those politicians who cost the citizens of Simcoe County millions of dollars as a result of pushing for the completion of Site 41.
Many at Simcoe County council chose to ignore the concerns of the people they represented, and instead accepted some very bad advice from senior county staff. They did not do their homework or listen to their constituents, and consequently should not be elected to office this term.
What we need is mayors and deputy mayors who will be responsible and accountable, and not rubberstamp what they are told by the bureaucrats. What we need is a strong, resourceful person like Ray Millar to represent Tiny residents at Simcoe County council.

Politicians who supported Site 41 do not deserve re-election
Re: “Our picks for Penetanguishene,” Editorial, Oct. 12.
PENETANGUISHENE – Citizens of Penetanguishene are definitely ready, willing and eager to make changes in the town government. I was surprised, therefore, that The Mirror is endorsing the re-election of certain incumbents.
I am especially surprised that it would endorse these incumbents knowing the position they took in support of Site 41. In fact, only two members of council voted against it. We need representatives who will listen to the citizens, represent their wishes, and protect our water and environment.
We also need a new direction when it comes to fiscal management. We need dynamic, new people with business experience and experience in setting budgets and meeting goals. The Town of Penetanguishene is a business that needs to be run properly.
I am urging everyone in Penetanguishene to consider the record of the incumbents. We do need change. Real change.
Bert Reynolds, Penetanguishene
