October 8 2010 — The AWARE Tiny Team has been very busy this past month organizing various initiatives to assist residents in becoming more familiar with the candidates and the issues in Tiny Township.  1.At our Public Meeting on Aug. 29th, 2010 we invited residents of Tiny to share their issues and asked candidates to attend and hear their concerns.  We had a good turnout and the following issues were brought forward:
• Spreading of septage on farmland
• Challenges facing agriculture
• Beach and fences
• Beach usage
• Proposed subdivision referred to as McMahan on corner of 4th Concession & Tiny Beaches Rd.
• Septic tanks on the shoreline of Farlaine Lake
• Tiny Township staff not following direction of Council
• Proposed tower by Rogers
• Audio-video taping council meetings
2.  An All Candidates Meeting was held on Sept.16 and attended by over 200 residents.
3.  We interviewed the candidates on Sept. 24 and 25th and provided the public and the media the opportunity to attend.  You can view the interview by audio-video at: www.aware-simcoe.ca.   We have received positive feedback about the audio-video so we hope you will find it informative and helpful.
We thank all those who were able to attend these events and for providing us with support. Our motto ELECT TO PROTECT was developed specifically to work towards electing people who would be committed to protecting the water – the environment – our tax dollars and accountability and transparency.
We urge you to encourage your family, friends and neighbours to spread the message about the importance of voting and electing the people who support the above priorities.
Following the election our goal is to create awareness, monitor Tiny Township Council and ensure accountability.  If you are able to help in any way please contact awaretiny@gmail.com.
