 AWARE Simcoe meeting in Penetanguishene
Saturday July 10, 2010 10 am to 12:30 pm
Royal Canadian Legion -2 Poyntz St.
From Letty McNeil
“Thank God that when our governments are failing us, we can hold fast to moral, spiritual and natural law by which to steer our government back to its responsibility of protecting and upholding our lives, our land and our water.” Jen Meunier, Algonquin, after being arrested for blocking gates at Site 41.
This is what AWARE Simcoe is about.

Attempting to steer governments back to its responsibility to do the job they were elected to do.  We can start by ensuring those elected this fall are people who are committed to these ideals as well as accountability and transparency.
There are over 30 landfill sites in Simcoe County and an unknown number of private sites, which some estimate to be another 30.
Pollution from INACTIVE and MUNICIPAL LANDFILLS is a significant cause of the deterioration of groundwater quality.
Once polluted by landfill leachate, groundwater and associated aquifers cannot be restored to provide a reliable domestic water supply ever again.
This is just one of many issues facing the elected politicians in Simcoe County and we need the right people to make the right decisions for the protection of our water, our land, our communities, our families and future generations.
Come to our meeting on Sat., July 10, 2010 and participate in the discussion of ideas, sharing of information, networking and planning on how to make a difference.
The more people we have at our meetings, the more possibilities we have of making change. We only have a few days left and July is a difficult time for people to get  involved, so if you can, please help us with the following:
= Distribute/post the flyers announcing the meeting in your community – in every community in Simcoe County. You can pick up from Jug City in Wyevale, Elmvale Library, Standlith Design in Perkinsfield or we can deliver to you.  Letty 705-322-4993.  mcneil@netrover.com
=Call Goldhawk and tell listeners in Simcoe County the importance of their attendance.
=Or if you want to help but are not sure how – please call Letty.
NB Business will include election of an executive board
