Simcoe County’s new warden is settling into his role nicely.
Warden Cal Patterson was acclaimed just over a month ago, and he says it’s been an interesting experience so far.
He says the job has a tremendous work load, but it’s certainly a huge honour to have the position as well.
Patterson says he’s learning that there is a tremendous staff at the county, and they are all very professional and do a great job.
He says Simcoe County is very diverse, and people need to remember that it’s a business providing service to all of the county.
Patterson says that business also employs 16 hundred workers, which makes it one of the largest employers in the area.
He says there are some pressing issues on his plate right now, including the waste management steering committee.
Patterson says that committee was formed because of the battle over Site 41, and adds that Site 41 is done, and there won’t be any garbage going into the ground.
And Patterson says he’s already had discussions, and now the same is true for Site 42.
The Enterprise-Bulletin reports that Patterson announced that Site 42 is no longer in the county’s plans at the reopening of the regional airport’s runway.
He adds that the decision still has to be confirmed by county council.
Site 42 is also on top of the Alliston aquifer, just like Site 41, and near the Collingwood Airport in Clearview Township.
