Monday March 26 – request for Barrie to become a Blue Community
AWARE Simcoe February 11 2012
The Simcoe Region Chapter of the Council of Canadians will present to Barrie City Council on Monday, March 26, 2012 to encourage the city to become Canada’s next Blue Community.
In order to become a Blue Community, a municipality must agree to protect water in three important ways. First, it must pass a resolution banning the sale of bottled water in public facilities and at municipal events.
Second, the municipality officially recognizes water as a human right.
Finally, a Blue Community commits to publicly financed, owned and operated water and wastewater services.
Please let your city councillor know you’re in favour of this initiative, and attend March 26 to show your support.
