Saturday April 14: All Nations Water Ceremony
Led by Josephine Mandamin
You are invited by the Water Walkers to join together with them once again to help protect the pure waters at Site 41. The world’s purest groundwater is under threat again – this time from a gravel pit expansion in the recharge area for the pristine aquifer in Simcoe County. Dufferin Aggregates has applied for a 10 year permit to take water at its Teedon Pit which is just east of the lands that almost became Dump Site 41 back in 2009. This event is not a protest or political rally. It is a ceremony intended to bring about healing through the water, to lift each other up, and to create greater awareness. Through song, dance and prayer, togetherness and unity we will make giant waves.
Programme:
9 am to 11 am Welcome to the Territory – Chief/ Council of Beausoleil First Nation Speakers & Prayer Poles
11 am –11:30 am Open Mic & Water Walk snacks
11:30 am – 1:30 pm Dance & Water Ceremony
2:30 pm – 3 pm Potluck Feast and Fellowship
Practical information:
• Everyone is asked to bring a copper vessel, a feast bundle (plate, bowl, cup, utensils), a reusable water jug, snacks like bananas, oranges, apples and a contribution of food or donation to cover costs of the feast.
• Please plan for rain and cold weather and dress warmly. If possible, women are encouraged to wear long skirts over their warm clothes. A lawn chair or blanket for this outdoor event. In the event of very inclement weather, it will be moved to Perkinsfield Pavilion. However every effort will be made to stay on Site 41. All are welcomed. French’s Hill is under attack from the pressure of aggregate business that wants to use hundreds of millions of litres of our water to wash dirt…at what cost?

We need our political leaders across all levels of government to stand beside us and champion the protection of our most valued resource – our pure groundwater.
