‘I feel I still have a lot of offer’: Former Collingwood councillor Norman Sandberg to run for mayor

A longtime Collingwood councillor has thrown his hat back in the political ring.

Norm Sandberg, who served on council from 1994-2000 and 2003-10, announced June 8 his intention to run for mayor this fall.

“Municipal politics and the municipal sector has always been first and foremost in my mind,” he said. “I feel I still have a lot of offer. There’s things I’d like to see accomplished to help move the town forward.”

He said he’ll be leaving his current employer this August, which means, “If I’m successful, I will have no diversions of my attention away from the leading of a good council.”

With four terms as a councillor under his belt, as well as 25 years with a local engineering firm, Sandberg said he has the right leadership to be mayor.
