Deputy-Mayor Lawrence chaired the meeting. Mayor Millar is absent.
Dominic Mifsud has made a request for leave of council to make an oral submission re: “Right of Passage on the Great Lakes”.
Deputy-Mayor Lawrence suggested to staff that they send a letter to Mr. Mifsud stating that Bill 103 has not become law, yet, and is waiting to go through a third reading from all three parties when they return to Queen’s Park in the fall. There is a strong opposition to it so it might never happen.

Lafontaine Beach Shoreline Restoration Public meeting August 25, 2012
A public meeting was held by Coldwater Consulting Ltd. and Tiny Township to discuss the improvements that need to be done to Lafontaine Beach. Right now, there is really not much of a beach and it is unsuitable for swimming. Water is trapped behind the offshore bar and the groynes, creating a low-energy zone which is mucky and stinky which attracts mosquitoes.
The Municipal Environmental Assessment process is examining the relative merits of four alternatives for the shoreline:
A) Partial removal of the west groynes and capping of the organics to create a new beachfront contained by two artificial headlands.
B) Partial removal of the west groynes and leaving fine sediments and vegetation in place to be gradually washed away by increased wave action.
C) Partial removal of the west groynes and scraping away of vegetation and fine sediments with all excavated materials to be trucked off site.
D) Do nothing-leave the beach in its existing condition.
The preferred alternative is “A”.
