Knowledge Seekers at the Elmvale Flow
Dr. Ian Clark of the University of Ottawa was at the Elmvale water kiosk on Saturday October 2, leading a group of graduate students who collected samples for their studies of the water, which has tested as the purest known to science. The visit was a pleasant surprise for campaigners who were at the flow to share information with water users and raise funds for the legal fight to prevent expansion of aggregate extraction.

The university group also visited the Waverley Uplands recharge area where aggregate extraction continues apace. It shouldn’t be happening, said Clark, one of a consortium of scientists who are seeking funding for a major study of why this water is so clean. “It is a remarkable system,” he added. “Our study is to see how it functions and how sensitive it is to these activities.”
