Alliston all-candidates meetings cancelled

President of Alliston chamber says members too busy, lack experience to organize debates

The cancellation of a pair of debates that were scheduled to take place in Alliston could leave the residents of the town’s biggest community without their own public forum to hear from the candidates running for New Tecumseth council.

The debates that were scheduled for Oct. 10 and 15 were cancelled after the Alliston and District Chamber of Commerce made an announcement Oct. 4 that it “refused participation” in the events.
