Jonathan Otis – Ramara Ward 4

My name is Jonathan Otis. I was born in Toronto on December 14, 1971 and attended the local public schools there. I am married and have two young children.

Upon graduation from High School in 1991, I was awarded the York University Merit Award for academic achievement. In 1994, I received my bachelor of arts from the University of Western Ontario and subsequently in 1998 received my law degree from The University of Ottawa. After I was admitted to the Law Society in 2001, I practiced Canadian immigration and refugee law. It is through this practice that I attribute my deep desire to help people and to contribute back to the community.

I am running to be the councillor of Ward 4 Brechin because I believe that I will bring a fresh perspective on how best to achieve progressive change and development for the Brechin community while at the same time preserving the local heritage and culture of Brechin. One of my main goals is to create economic growth through a mix of private and public development. I want to bring new community initiatives, ideas and activities that will promote and attract young people and families to Brechin on a consistent and permanent basis. We need to make Brechin a place where businesses and families want to invest and grow together.

If I were to be so honoured with election to Brechin’s council, I promise to always be available to my constituents and will work with them to make sure that their voices are heard. I want to make Brechin the envy of Ramara Township and a model for all townships. Vote for me for Councillor Ward 4 and let’s make great things happen, together!

If elected, I will be donating any salary or compensation I may receive for my role as councillor back to the town of Brechin and I will also be funding my own campaign 100 per cent.
