Lawrence: Stop the Drop!
From Tiny Deputy Mayor George Lawrence: Notes for remarks to public meeting
International Joint Commission July 16 2012
Thank I.F.C. for the opportunity to have our water level concerns addressed!
It is apparent after 17 million dollars spent on research, there is a problem!
Our local municipalities/towns and county are spending mega dollars on tourism and recreation. Our major attraction is Georgian Bay!
Dredging is now commonplace to enable our marinas and the staff they employ to carry on. Business and jobs are at risk!
Waterfront docks that we once tied our watercraft up to now do not even reach to the water.
Computer data are only as reliable as the information it is fed. We were taught that lesson on a proposed landfill to be built on top of our most precious resource – water. Reality eventually has to be addressed!
Commission members, you will not have heard the end of this issue if status quo is your choice.
Do nothing is not an option!
STOP THE DROP!
