NEW TECUMSETH – Wondering what your New Tecumseth candidates stand for?
Two all candidates meetings are scheduled in the town for people to meet with their ward candidates, as well as those running for mayor and deputy mayor.
The first meeting is Sept. 29 at the Tottenham Community Centre. The meet and greet style meeting runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 6 the Alliston Herald and the Gibson Centre is running an all candidates meeting at the Gibson Centre, 63 Tupper St. in Alliston, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will allow for people to meet with all the ward candidates as well as watch a debate between the people looking to fill the mayor and deputy mayor seats.
Because there are 35 candidates running for New Tecumseth council this year, the Alliston Herald is helping to host three candidates debates, with different wards being debated on each night.
Oct. 7 at Rich Hill United Church is a debate for rural candidates (Ward 5 and Ward 7) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Oct. 13 at the Beeton Arena hall is a meeting for Ward 6 (Beeton) and Ward 8 (Tottenham) candidates from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The final debate is on Oct. 14 at Banting Memorial High School. The meeting, which is being organized by the Alliston and District Chamber of Commerce and The Herald, runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Candidates for the mayor and deputy mayor positions are also being asked to attend and take part in each of the debates.
