The first sign of municipal change in this region comes from Adjala-Tosorontio where Mary Small Brett has been acclaimed deputy mayor, and Tom Gauley in Ward 4 Everett when a new four-year term begins in December.
Ms. Small Brett, Ward 3 councillor since 2000, went unchallenged following Friday’s close of nominations. The position also puts her on County council. Current deputy Doug Little is moving down to contest her vacant seat on council, which he held prior to 2000.
Ward 4 councillor Joy Webster had signed up to run for deputy, but announced she was backing out, previous to her official withdrawal on July 15.
Below are the candidates for the seven member council:
Mayor: Incumbent Tom Walsh, Jack Jordan, and Leo Loserit.
Ward 1: No incumbent – William Boston, Steve Brockman, Mary Phil Flood, and Floyd Pinto.
Ward 2: No incumbent – Marilynn Cook and Ambrose Keenan. (incumbent Ray Wallace running in Ward 3).
Ward 3: No incumbent – Doug Little and Ray Wallace.
Ward 5: Incumbent – Tom Cook and Scott Anderson.
