Sutherland jumps into Tottenham ward race

Joe Sutherland has registered to run for Ward 8 New Tecumseth council, with just over 24 hours left before the window closes on candidates for the 2010 municipal elections.
If the last name is familiar, it’s because Mr. Sutherland’s wife Joan, was a former Tottenham reeve, deputy mayor and councillor in New Tecumseth, calling it quit in 2006.
His entry makes it four, including incumbents Jess Prothero and Jim Stone, and real estate broker Elias Lafazanos all vying to win the one seat for Tottenham.
Eligible candidates have until 2 pm Friday to register for the Oct. 25 elections.
