The list of former New Tecumseth councillors vying for a seat on the next council has grown by one with the entry of Donna Jebb in Ward 5.
Ms. Jebb, who was recently appointed as a Canadian representative to the United Nations’ non-governmental status committee: Associated Country Women of the World, served one term as Ward 2 councillor from 2000-2003.
She is running against former Ward 3 councillor Helga Elie, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2006. Tecumseth resident Frank Forrest is also registered to run in Ward 5 – which stretches from Highway 89 at 15 Sideroad, down to the 13th Line, running to the east and west Town boundary,  and south to the 6th Line, excluding Beeton.
To date there are 22 people signed up to run for eight council seats, and mayor and deputy mayor. Only incumbent deputy mayor Rick Milne, and Jess Prothero in Ward 8 Tottenham, would be acclaimed if the election were held today.
