Environment minister backs plans for Clearview sideroad upgrade

The Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks won’t require a stricter environmental review of a township road improvement project.
In a May 21 letter to Clearview Township chief administrative officer Steve Sage, Jeff Yurek said the township can proceed with plans to improve Sideroad 26/27 and make it a year-round road as a Schedule A+ project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
The proposal to improve 26/27 is considered a Schedule A+ project, which are limited in scale, have minimal adverse environmental effects, and do not have any study requirements under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
Under the More Homes More Choice Act passed June 6, 2019, Schedule A and A+ undertakings are also exempt from the Environmental Assessment Act, and order requests for projects cannot be considered.
Plans to turn 91 over to Walker Aggregates, and upgrade 26/27, have met stiff resistance from neighbours and the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust.
Unbelievable!
I thought the Niagara Escarpment was supposed to be protected?!
Of course the Doug Ford government bends over backwards to accommodate the aggregate industry, and has no regard for our natural environment.
