Clearview Sideroad 26/27

Does this look like an arterial inter-county road to you?

A very, very BAD idea. Help us defeat it on May 8

From Blue Mountain Watershed Trust

Clearview sells County Road 91 to gravel pit, proposes to turn 26/27 – a summer road with a 14% grade – into a year-round thoroughfare.

*** ATTEND THE PUBLIC MEETING MAY 8 – 5PM! ***

We need a big show of support. Re-engineering this road, going straight up the mountain, is a BAD idea. There’s a good reason why it’s a summer-only road: 14% grade. Springs in the roadbed. Cuts through Escarpment Natural and Protected lands.

Can you make it out? We really need you there. The Township of Clearview will host a Public Meeting regarding the proposed Niagara Escarpment Plan Amendment on Wednesday, May 8 from 5-7:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the Township office at 217 Gideon Street in Stayner. There will be an Open House with displays followed by a Presentation at 6 pm by the Township’s planning consultant. Staff of the Niagara Escarpment Commission will be in attendance to answer questions.

The Watershed Trust has been fighting this idea for some time. We have a fine lawyer representing us. We have hired a top environmental consultant. We’re making a huge effort and spending scant funds. But Clearview wants to push this through. Learn more about the issue in this excellent Watershed Trust article by George Powell.
