From Jack Gibbons Lake Simcoe Watch
This morning I made a deputation at the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority’s (LSRCA) Board of Directors meeting.
On behalf of Lake Simcoe Watch, I asked the Board Members to direct their staff to work with the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada to develop plans and budgets to achieve the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan’s phosphorus reduction and natural cover (wetlands, meadows and forest) targets by 2026.
The Board Members refused to do so. Instead, they merely directed the Conservation Authority’s Chief Administrative Officer to send a letter to Lake Simcoe Watch.
These are the directors from Simcoe County:
City of Barrie Councillor Natalie Harris
City of Barrie Councillor Clare Riepma
Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Councillor Peter Ferragine
Town of Innisfil Councillor Alex Waters
Town of New Tecumseth Councillor Shira Harrison-McIntyre
Township of Oro-Medonte Councillor Scott Macpherson (Vice Chair)
Township of Ramara No representative appointed
