From Jack Gibbons Lake Simcoe Watch

This morning I made a deputation at the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority’s (LSRCA) Board of Directors meeting.

On behalf of Lake Simcoe Watch, I asked the Board Members to direct their staff to work with the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada to develop plans and budgets to achieve the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan’s phosphorus reduction and natural cover (wetlands, meadows and forest) targets by 2026.

The Board Members refused to do so. Instead, they merely directed the Conservation Authority’s Chief Administrative Officer to send a letter to Lake Simcoe Watch.

Were any of you a Scout? Boy or girl? Do you remember the Scout Law? A Scout is helpful and trustworthy, kind and cheerful, considerate and clean, and wise in the use all resources. If we teach kids to be wise in the use of our resources, why can’t you? It’s not complicated. It’s not political. It’s wise use of our resources. Our kids future resources. Do what you know is right.
