Media turned away from Jill Dunlop’s ‘public’ budget consultation
Reporter told presence at meeting would ‘disrupt the process’
Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop held a pre-budget consultation Friday at the Orillia City Centre.
Despite being given advance approval to cover the meeting, an OrilliaMatters reporter was turned away at the boardroom door, where one of Dunlop’s staff members said his entering the meeting would “disrupt the process.”
This is also despite a news release issued by Dunlop, saying, “Residents are encouraged to attend.”
The reporter made a request for an interview with Dunlop after the meeting but did not receive a response.
Reporters, in the past, have routinely covered previous provincial and federal pre-budget consultations.
