News release from Wasaga Beach

George Vadeboncoeur is the Town of Wasaga Beach’s new chief administrative officer.

Council appointed Vadeboncoeur to the position on December 6, 2018.

“We are pleased to have George once again be a part of our team,” Mayor Nina Bifolchi said. “George is an experienced public servant that understands the needs of our municipality and community. He will provide important leadership at the staff level, as well as support to the newly elected council.”

Vadeboncoeur said he is delighted to be returning to the Town of Wasaga Beach.

“Together we had accomplished so much as an organization and I look forward to the exciting task ahead,” Vadeboncoeur said. “I am particularly pleased about being able to work with the dedicated staff at the Town of Wasaga Beach.”

Vadeboncoeur has an extensive municipal background. He served as CAO for the Town of Penetanguishene for 10 years prior to joining the Town of Wasaga Beach 13 years ago.

“Council is confident in George’s abilities to lead staff and ensure that council’s objectives are achieved,” Mayor Bifolchi said. “On behalf of council, I am happy to welcome him back to Wasaga Beach.”

George Vadeboncoeur is coming back to Wasaga Beach.

A day after parting ways with interim CAO Gerry Marshall, council passed a motion at a special council meeting on Dec. 6 to reappoint Vadeboncoeur, who retired from the job in August. His first day is Dec. 7.

Vadeboncoeur was elected as a councillor in Penetanguishene in October.

There is nothing legislatively preventing Vadeboncoeur from holding both positions. The Municipal Elections Act prevents a municipal employee from holding a board or council position with the municipality they are employed by.

Both Vadeboncoeur and Mayor Nina Bifolchi told Simcoe.com that Vadeboncoeur reached out to the new mayor following the Oct. 22 election “to say he would be happy to come back to assist as required,” said the mayor.
