Many deceased people received voter’s cards, while many residents did not, says clerk

Tay Township Clerk Alison Gray said the municipality had to make more changes to the voters list for the 2018 municpal election than in any election before, adding that the province needs to do a better job of keeping the list up to date. – Gisele Winton Sarvis/Metroland

An active voter, Jo-Anne Granger was surprised when her name wasn’t on the voters list for the recent municipal election. She was even more surprised when she found out why.

Granger called Tay Township clerk Alison Gray. “She said, ‘Oops. It says on our list you are deceased.’”
