News clips: Province begins process to close Tree Seed Plant in Angus

The Ontario Tree Seed Plant in Angus is closing down, the province has decided.
The move comes about three months after the government initiated a consultation process involving the public, nurseries and the forestry industry to determine if the historic facility that opened in 1923 should continue to operate.
“After careful consideration and thanks to the ideas and feedback we received through consultation, an informed decision was made to close the plant with a clearly defined course of action,” wrote Jolanta Kowalski, spokesperson for the ministry of natural resources and forestry. “As part of our transition plan, the ministry is hosting workshops this week and consulting locally to look for opportunities to help the economy and strengthen local partnership connections.”
