Friends of Simcoe Forests celebrate
MPP Doug Downey, shown with Karen White, owner of Bridle Tree Farm which hosted the corn roast, and Cindy Mercer of Friends of Simcoe Forests, presents a certificate to honour those who protect our forests.
From Friends of Simcoe Forests
Saturday September 8 was the Friends of Simcoe Forests 2018 Corn Roast. We were blessed with perfect weather and even better company. The show of support was overwhelming and we were truly humbled to see Simcoe County residents, politicians and political candidates in attendance.
We were absolutely tickled pink to have MPP Doug Downey attend and present in person this certificate to the Friends of Simcoe Forests:
“The mission of protecting our forests is a shared responsibility, enacted so that each generation can enjoy the majesty, beauty and solitude that is experienced in the beauty of a forest.”
The amazing corn was donated by award winning Nicholyn Farms. We are so appreciative for our local agriculture and for the delicious feast of fresh corn provided for this day.
Thank you so much to the wonderful volunteers that made donations, played wonderful music for us and chipped in to help make this day a huge success.
We wish to extend a very special thank you to Bridle Tree Farms for opening up your amazing and beautiful farm to host this community event.
In case you missed Saturday’s music performance, an amazing protest song to save the Freele Tract officially made its debut. ♫♫♫ Stay tuned for more on this.
