Dear friends,

My name is Mike Ross, and I am pleased to announce that I will be running for re-election for deputy mayor in the Town of Midland.

It truly has been my pleasure to represent the people of Midland for the last eight years on council.

A born-and-raised Midland boy, I am now raising my own family in the town I love.

I have been employed for the past 16 years as a sales manager for an Ontario wine and Cider company. My employment takes me to several communities in central and northern Ontario. This gives me an advantage when it comes to representing the people of Midland by having the opportunity to network and learn from leaders in other municipalities.

Midland is currently seeing growth in all four sectors of its economy: industrial, residential, commercial and tourism are all proceeding in a positive direction.

As the council representative on the Economic Development Office of North Simcoe, I could not be prouder of this success, as these are the driving forces to keep Midland on the map.

However, there is still a lot of hard work to be done. As your deputy mayor I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility, while maintaining the services Midland currently provides to its residents.

Furthermore, I have always been an advocate in keeping taxes in-line with the rate of inflation and my past eight years service to Midland attests to this. While maintaining this view, I also look forward to aiding in the growth potential of Midland, such as development to the waterfront, the necessary reconstruction of infrastructure along King Street, along with other investment-friendly business ventures.

The welfare of our residents, the prosperity of our local businesses is reliant on the growth of our community.

With that said, my main objective is to “Make Midland the best it can be.”
