Keenan Aylwin — Barrie Ward 2
Barrie is growing. We need leadership that is bold and inclusive so that no one is left behind in this time of change.
I’m excited for the opportunity to work with you and learn from you to make our community a better place to live and work. We all have lessons to learn and wisdom to share.
As your full-time Ward 2 councillor, I will always work to make decisions with you, not for you.
I’m here to listen. For the last four years, we have had unresponsive and inadequate representation in Ward 2.
It’s time for a councillor who will bring people together. It’s time for a councillor who will work tirelessly to represent you. It’s time for a councillor who has the energy and passion to get the job done. On Oct. 22, vote Keenan for Ward 2 councillor.
I can’t wait to meet you.
Keenan Aylwin, candidate for Ward 2 councillor
Aylwin grew up in Barrie where he got his first taste of political activism fighting alongside the community to save Prince of Wales Public School and Barrie Central Collegiate from closure.
Aylwin lives and works in Ward 2, in the heart of downtown Barrie. He is a community organizer and activist. Aylwin’s family has owned and operated several small businesses in Ward 2 for well over a decade, giving him insight into the needs and wants of local businesses.
While studying political science at Queen’s University, Aylwin worked as an urban farmer to help pay his way through school. He continues to promote local food through his involvement in Fruitshare Barrie and the Urban Pantry in their work to expand community gardens in the city.
Aylwin’s pledge to the people of Ward 2:
“As your councillor, I will … put honesty and integrity ahead of political gain; respond promptly to your concerns and clearly communicate decisions; advocate for your interests and engage the community in decision-making.”
