The Duckworth family has a long history in Angus.

Archie was born and raised in Angus and watched the town grow into what it is today.

A graduate of Angus Morrison and Barrie Central, he went on to be a full-time representative for one of the biggest labour unions in North America.

In his work, he had the privilege of working alongside government officials and businesses, though he is most proud of having the opportunity to defend working peoples rights. He feels like his previous work has given him the skills and drive to help the residents of Angus.

In 2010, Archie Duckworth took an interest in politics, finding that councillors must be open, inclusive and transparent. Over the last eight years, he believes that this is not the case for the current council.

Archie is running independently for Angus and wants to build his campaign on what he can do for the community. But if elected, he wants to focus on some of these specific issues: Reinstitute the Angus Flood Study, urbanize Angus — while protecting historical landmarks such as churches and the Ontario Seed Plant, creating a resident’s committee to guide and expand Angus into the future, lobby government and school boards to ensure we have better schools for our growing population, ensure that citizens are properly informed on every major issue that affects them locally (two town hall meetings a year) and that we have affordable housing for our youth and seniors.

Don’t ‘Duck the issues,’ Archie wants to hear your concerns and what you would like done in Angus!

He wants to leave the voters with this: Angus is your town and your issues matter.
