STOP THE GRASS CARP INVASION – BENEFIT CONCERT

Classic Lightfoot Live is a celebratory tribute to legendary singer/songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot.

The show will transport fans back to the 1964-1976 era, when the “Lightfoot Sound” was filling the airwaves. Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Early  Morning Rain, and more! Gordon Lightfoot’s poetry-filled music runs through the veins of John Stinson.

A lifelong musician, Stinson, 63, has dedicated his musical career to keeping collected equally passionate and like-minded musicians together to tour with the Classic Lightfoot Live show. Stinson, also has a cottage in Tiny Township.

This musical event will support our work to have ecologically responsible measures taken now to eradicate Grass Carp.

Grass Carp have established reproducing populations in two Ohio rivers that flow into Lake Erie, and 10 have moved upstream and already been caught in Lake Huron. If 10 have been caught in Lake Huron there are far more present.

Compelling research by Professor Pat ChowFraser of McMaster University has already pointed out the inevitable impact of infestation of the Great Lakes by bottom vegetation-feeding Grass Carp -destruction of the wetlands followed by loss of native fish and other aquatic species that need wetlands for spawning and nursery habitat. Walleye is an important example.
