On a hectic day at Barrie City Hall, one incumbent councillor can kick up his feet.

Ward 9 Coun. Sergio Morales is the only sitting member of council to be acclaimed, according to a noncertified list of nominees released by the City of Barrie July 27.

“Acclamations in Barrie don’t happen that often; it’s a huge honour,” he said. “I take it with humility. But if an acclamation means people have faith in you, you have to continue working to earn that trust. I’m still going to engage residents and continue earning the mandate from residents. A politician’s worst enemy is complacency.”
