Bradford looks to expand Town facilities into Bond Head

Bradford West Gwillimbury’s $85 million multi-year public facilities development plans include a future Joint Operations Centre to service the community of Bond Head, which is approved for approximately 1,500 residential units and expected to grow from 500 to a population of 4,400.

“Commensurate with that growth will be additional assets to maintain and service, including streets, sidewalks, parks, boulevards, open space, playgrounds and municipal facilities,” according to the report headed to BWG council next week. “The current assets are maintained by crews and equipment housed at 75 Melbourne and 3541 Line 11 – an approach that will prove highly inefficient as the service demands in Bond Head increase over time.”

The JOC’s estimated cost for a 10,000 sq. ft facility sitting on about four acres of land is $3 million, and would take 18 months, with a target start date in 2022.

BWG’s immediate priority is a new fire hall and other works related units at a total cost of about $11.5 million.
