What possible motivation for Springwater CAC?

On Monday February 27, 2018 I attended the Springwater Compliance Audit Committee meeting. The CAC was set up to examine the election expenses of Springwater Mayor Bill French after a complaint by defeated deputy mayor candidate Dan MacLean. The details of this fiasco have been documented by Kate Harries on the AWARE Simcoe website.

I have seldom seen such a shameful display incompetence and abuse of power as this CAC displays. The two members, Colin McLarty and George Wodoslawsky, were clearly very uncomfortable in facing the dozen or so people in the audience. They avoided eye contact with the audience and acted as though they were ashamed of the actions they were taking, often mumbling into the microphone. The CAC chair, Robert Barlow was a no-show.

This CAC is costing nearly $200K to scrutinize a measly $1,175.00 which doesn’t even come close to put French over the spending limit.

Is someone forcing these two men to act with such complete disregard for the facts of the case and the huge expense they are costing the taxpayers? What can be their possible motivation?
