Two local Progressive Conservative Party riding association members had differing reactions to the sudden resignation Jan. 25 of leader Patrick Brown.
Scott Macpherson, a longtime Brown supporter and past president of the PC’s Simcoe North riding association, said he was “saddened” by the situation. “I hope that these allegations are proved to be unfounded,” Macpherson told Simcoe.com.
CTV News reported two unknown women claim they were sexually assaulted by Brown about 10 years ago. Brown has denied the allegations. Brown stepped down as leader of the party, but remains MPP in Simcoe North and is nominated to run in the Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte riding in June’s provincial election.
In the meantime, the Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte PC riding association is staying mum on the matter. “I will await direction from PCPO party headquarters moving forward,” riding association president Garry Perkins said.
