UPDATE from Vicki Monague:

Boozhoo Relatives,

This is the official poster for the Water Walk coming up on November 4th & 5th, 2017.

Water Walk Poster 2017

This walk is in response to a threat of the Alliston Aquifer. There is a proposal to significantly expand an existing quarry on the Alliston Aquifer in Tiny Township, Ontario. The water in this aquifer has been dubbed by many to be the purest water on earth. It is cleaner than the cleanest layers of arctic glacial ice over 5000 years old.

It is located in the territory of the people of Beausoleil First Nation. The proposed site will dig 48 metres into the earth with no protection plans for aquifer. Currently, there is a permit to take water (4314-87CNZN) from the aquifer issued by the Ministry of Environment for 1, 635, 840 litres per day for 210 days. This permit expires on April 30th, 2018 and a new application will be submitted for de-watering for the site expansion.

Opponents believe that this is a significant disruption to the geology and hydrology of the site and will pose a significant threat to the underlying waters, as there is no protection plan in place by the proponents.

It is our hopes that we can come to peaceful resolution and forever protect one of the last pure freshwater resources on Turtle Island. We kindly request that if you are unable to join us, that you help us through prayer and sacred fires on these days that we will walk.
