A former high-ranking provincial official has been named the new chief administrative officer for the Town of Collingwood.

Fareed Amin was announced as the new CAO on Sept. 25. He will start his new job Oct. 10.

Amin comes to the municipality with a lengthy background in provincial government, having served as deputy minister of several ministries, including Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Economic Development and Trade.

He has also worked as deputy city manager with the City of Toronto and is a member of the judicial appointments advisory committee. Amin spent the last two years working as a senior vice-president for the Walton Group.

Amin takes over from CAO John Brown, who spent nearly four years with Collingwood.
