Thursday September 28: Huronia Land Conservancy announces first property
From the Huronia Land Conservancy
The Huronia Land Conservancy is excited to announce the formal recognition of their first property. We are recognizing the donor, funders and supporters that made this possible.
This recognition event will be on September 28th at 4 pm. The property is located at the intersection of Flos Line 10 and the Scarlett Line. The new property is called Hogg Creek Wetland and as it is located at the source of Hogg Creek.
It boasts significant ecological features including classification as a provincially significant wetland with some species at risk. A formal biological survey has recently been completed. The property qualified for the federal Ecological Gifts Program which provides land donors with tax incentives. The property will not be open to the public but its natural features will be preserved for future generations by the Huronia Land Conservancy.
It is anticipated that the Hogg Creek Wetland is the first of many properties to be protected by the Huronia Land Conservancy. Protecting Nature Close To Home
