We did it! Thanks to you, the Nottawasaga River has been added to the schedule of the Navigation Protection Act.

Only two rivers have had their protection restored by the Liberal government. The other is the Nass River in British Columbia.

The reason? The Canada Gazette listing of October 7 2016 states that these were the only two rivers for which Transport Canada received requests.

-Thanks to everyone who signed the petition that AWARE Simcoe launched after the infamous 2012 Omnibus Bill gutted the ancient Navigable Waters Protection Act and removed protection from all but 162 waterways!

-Thanks to the municipalities (Essa, Clearview, Melancthon, Mono, Oro-Medonte, Springwater, Wasaga Beach and Simcoe County), as well as the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, that asked Transport Canada to add the Nottawasaga to the NPA schedule!

-Thanks to all those who contributed their knowledge, expertise and passion to stand up for the river!
