Innisfil’s Lynn Dollin acclaimed new AMO President
from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario
Lynn Dollin, Deputy Mayor of the Town of Innisfil, was acclaimed President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) today at the Association’s 2016 conference in Windsor.
“I’m proud to represent the interests of 443 Ontario municipalities,” said Lynn Dollin, AMO President. “Our communities all face unique challenges. Working together, speaking with one strong voice, Ontario’s municipalities are a powerful force that is hard to ignore.”
“Ontario’s municipalities can expect a strong leader in Lynn Dollin,” said Gary McNamara, past AMO President. “AMO has accomplished a lot in the last two years but this is still work to be done. I know Lynn is up for the job and I look forward to supporting her as an active Past President.”
Dollin has served on the Town of Innisfil’s Council for 22 years and as Deputy Mayor for the past two years.
The AMO President serves as the voice of a 43-member Board made of up of elected officials and senior municipal staff from across Ontario. The AMO Board represents a cross-section of Ontario’s diverse municipalities, including rural, northern and urban communities from all regions of the province.
AMO’s key advocacy priorities are focused on achieving fiscal sustainability for municipal governments, advancing federal and provincial partnerships for infrastructure and strengthening municipal legislative authority to advance local economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.
AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario’s 444 municipal governments. AMO supports strong and effective municipal government in Ontario and promotes the value of municipal government as a vital and essential component of Ontario and Canada’s political system.
Innisfil’s Dollin acclaimed as new President of AMO today in Windsor
Innisfil Deputy Mayor Lynn Dollin has taken over as president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Board of Directors for the term 2016-2018.
Ms. Dollin, who had served as Chair of AMO’s Small Urban Caucus, was acclaimed to the position today as AMO meets in Windsor this week for its Annual General Meeting. She takes over from now Past President Gary McNamara, mayor of Tecumseh. Trevor Wilcox, Simcoe County’s General Manager of Corporate Services, was acclaimed to a second term as Secretary-Treasurer.
