Ontario’s award-winning Greenbelt protects farmland, forests, wetlands and abundant clean water supplies. It also supports a thriving rural economy including the $11 billion agriculture and food sector that provides 110,000 Ontario jobs. A bigger and strengthened Greenbelt will help stop our cities from sprawling outwards and instead encourage livable, walkable communities with a greater range of housing options.

The province wants to grow the Greenbelt into urban river valleys and coastal wetlands to better protect Ontarians’ supply of clean water. Many sprawl developers are saying “no” to a larger Greenbelt. The government needs to hear your support to ensure the Greenbelt grows.

With your support, we can help protect drinking water, and rivers, natural areas and farms forever – in places like Simcoe County, Waterloo Region, Wellington, Guelph, Brant and Northumberland – places that were left out when the Greenbelt was created in 2005.

Now’s the time to make your voice heard.

You only have until September 30, 2016 to tell the government you support growing the Greenbelt and protecting clean water sources.
